New Material, G10
Soar is introducing a new material to its existing Classic polyester fibreglass laminates.
It is a compression moulded epoxy laminate.
All resins have a heat deflection temperature (HDT) where the material is plastically deformed under load and retains that deformation. This particular epoxy has an HDT of 160 degrees C, unlike normal surfboard style epoxy which has an HDT in the low 60’s. Polyester resins have an HDT in the 80’s. Many would have seen a bent fin having been sitting next to the window in a hot car!
The compressive forces used during manufacture allow 40% more fibreglass to be used in the laminate. The panels are then 100% cured in ovens. G10 is a highly engineered material.
A thorough evaluation has been done by our test pilots Harry Bryant and Noa Deane. Harry’s comments are amazing. He can break the fins out at the top and upon re-engaging they grip immediately and drive straight out. They are super responsive.
G10 fins are available in Dahlberg Medium and Large sizes in 1’s, 1.5’s and futures.
More shapes to come.

Same template as our popular Dahlberg fins in G10 range.
Our G10 fins are thinner, faster and stronger.
The compressed epoxy laminate has 40% more glass than our classic fin laminates.
That makes them super responsive.
