Short Board Fin Bases

1’s

First up we have the standard two tab fin system.

These have been around for 25 years.

They are secured into the fittings with two grub screws per fin.

We call these 1’s.

1.5’s

The newest snap in system that has been around for about 5 years.

We fit that system by utilizing the front hook-in tab, but use a standard 1’s tab at the rear secured by a grub screw.

Longboard Fins and Bases

Why don’t my longboard fins fit?

When it comes to 10 Inch fin boxes there are several varieties.

All longboard boxes have a track that allow the pin and plate to move along, repositioning your fin.

The Australian made boxes such as Aussie Fin Co, Dion and Surf Blanks all feature a track height of 12mm.

The US made boxes have a standard pin height of 10.5mm.

In general we setup all our box fins as 12mm track height. We utilise two small feet on the bottom of the fin which can be easily removed to make the fin fit the US standard.

Standard width of the box opening for all longboard fin boxes are 9.1mm… But don’t trust this.
